“Hi P & M
You were wonderful! The festival was a huge success. Not only were there more visitors, there was a really warm buzz about it. People were having a great time. All your efforts in contacting film makers and encouraging them to attend really paid off.
The event ran smoothly and we were all lucky with the weather. I know that many people who stayed more than just the weekend had a lovely time exploring the island in the sunshine.
Lots of love and thanks to you both.”

“Dear Peter and Mary
As always we enjoyed our visit to your lovely island and, of course, enjoyed the “Lily” yet again. Over the years, the festival has grown and improved, and due to your very hard work, it is each year attracting more and more visitors.
Congratulations on a very successful event, and with much love.”

“Dear Peter and Mary
What a fantastic few days we spent with you in Guernsey. We managed to persuade a few more club members to join us this year and hope for a few more next year!!
Once again your organisation was superb and we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. Thank you for that.
We hope that by now you have also found time to relax!
Thank you once again.”

“Hi Peter and Mary
We did not really get a chance to speak to you as we left, as many others were pouring their thanks onto you.
May we just add our thanks for a super weekend at your Festival. We don’t like comparing one year to another, as they all have their highlights, but we felt that this year was really good and the atmosphere was so friendly and relaxed. Add to that a generous helping of top quality films and what more could anyone want.
Many thanks once again, and we look forward to next year.”

“Hi Peter
May I take this opportunity in thanking you and Mary and the other organisers for such a fantastic film festival. It was a delight to talk to all the many film buffs who came to Guernsey for the weekend festivities.
What a warm, friendly atmosphere the festival had. It will be remembered for a long time. We all enjoyed all of the films seen and look forward to submitting another film soon.
Best regards

“Hi Mary
Just a quick note to say thank you very much for a great festival in Guernsey, myself and my friend Tom had a great time and it was fantastic watching a diverse range of other films!
The festival was really well organised, and the island itself is beautiful. I only regret that we didn’t have more time to catch up on more films and see more of the island, but that annoying thing called work interferes in too much nowadays!
Many thanks again and best wishes.”

“Dear Mary and Peter
Thank you both once again for a lovely weekend at the Guernsey Lily. Liz and I don’t need much of an excuse to visit the Channel Islands but we now also feel amongst friends when coming to Guernsey. The company, food and friendship are all great and the scenery is wonderful.
With very best wishes”

“Hello Mary
Last night we came back home after a fabulous festival in Guernsey. What Dave Watterson has written on the forum is right: it is the friendliest festival in the world!
In my opinion also the judges at your festival did a fantastic job. The judges’ comments are more than impressive. They will be used in Belgium as excellent examples. I appreciated not only Dave’s comments but also the ones written by the other judges.
Of course, Mary, how can we praise you for all the work you and Peter have done.
Congratulations again.”

FROM THE IAC DISCUSSION FORUM
“Let me be the first to declare the 2007 Guernsey Lily Festival a great success.
82 off-island visitors packed La Villette Hotel for the screenings, most of us joined in the excursions on Friday and Sunday nights to local restaurants for wonderful meals in the “Tennerfest” – an annual promotion where restaurants and hotels offer a meal for “about ten pounds” – these days it is often nearer fifteen pounds but still amazing value.
Lots of old friends were there like Willy and Vera, Christiane and Martin – all from Belgium; Bernhard and Karin from Austria; Norman, Dorothy and “the two Elises” from Scotland, Ron and Sheila from Burnley; Val, Michael and Linda; John and Jane; Harold and Maisie; Brian and Alice; Ken and Carol … and so on and on.
Reading Club fielded a team of eleven people – hurrah! They all added a few days to make a real holiday of their visit.
New friends included Sloan and Joy Bell from Northern Ireland, Werner Van den Bulck from Belgium, Annette Jung from Germany, Bryan Littlewood from Colchester, Cyril Guthrie from Northumberland …
Well-balanced programmes of films were screened. The principal results are on the website but the Audience Prize finally went to Ken Wilson for “Disposal”.
This has to be the friendliest festival in the British Isles.”
