Competition Rules
Competition Rules. Below are listed the 15 rules which are relevant to anyone considering submitting an entry to the 2010 Guernsey Lily Film Festival. We wish all entrants good luck with their submissions.

  1. A non-commercial film or video is deemed to be one that is made for love, with no financial reward and without professional assistance other than processing, copying or the physical process of sound transfer.

  2. Individual or group entrants under the age of 21 on the closing date (31st May) will also be eligible and will compete for a special trophy. Film School entries will be a separate category and will be judged accordingly.

  3. Entries should be on DV, Mini DV, VHS, S-VHS or DVD systems . HD entries on DV and Mini DV systems can also be accepted. All entries must be either 16 x 9 or 4 x 3 native formats. No letterboxed formats will be accepted.

  4. The length of entries is restricted to 30 minutes maximum.

  5. All entries must have been completed since May 2008. Previous entries in the Guernsey Lily Festival are not eligible unless substantially altered. If necessary, please check with the organisers for guidance.

  6. The entry fee is £10 per entry or £5 for Youth entries (under the age of 21) and Film School entries. Return postage must be added by all entrants who require their entry to be returned.
    N.B. We are able to accept payments in any currency - e.g. Euros, Dollars etc

  7. There is no limit to the number of entries but each must be made on a separate form. (Photocopies are acceptable.)

  8. Entry forms must be completed in full. The forms, films and fees must reach the Competition Officer prior to the closing date.

  9. DV, Mini DV, HDV, S-VHS and VHS entries are accepted but must be PAL system. DVD entries are also accepted on NTSC system. There is no objection to other film or video systems being used for originating recordings. Video and DVD entries must be supplied with sound tracks capable of being played on standard equipment.

  10. Copyright clearance in all cases is the responsibility of the entrant.

  11. All entries will be handled with extreme care. However, no responsibility for loss or damage will be accepted by the competition organisers.

  12. The entries, together with their copyright, will remain the property of their owners. However, the organisers reserve the right to make copies for publicity purposes.

  13. Every effort will be made to return videos to entrants as soon as possible after the festival.

  14. The decision of the judges is final. The judges reserve the right not to award prizes in any category.
    Appraisals will be provided on all entries.

  15. Entrants are reminded that the main language of the festival is English. Therefore entries made in other languages should be easily understood by English speaking audiences.
